Restructuring of SGSY as National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)- Aajeevika

Objective/features
The Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has launched Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) by restructuring Swaranajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) replacing the existing SGSY scheme, effective from April 1, 2013.
NRLM is the flagship program of Govt. of India for promoting poverty reduction through building strong institution of the poor, particularly women, and enabling these institutions to access as range of financial services and livelihoods services. NRLM is designed to be a highly intensive program and focuses on intensive application of human and material resources in order to mobilize the poor into functionally effective community owned institutions promote their financial inclusion and strengthen their livelihood.

Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)

Objective/features
PMEGP launched by merging two schemes viz. PMRY and REGP (in operation till 31.3.2008), for generation of employment opportunities through establishment of micro enterprises in rural as well as urban areas. PMEGP will be a central sector scheme to be administered by the Ministry of MSME. No ceiling of annual income in respect of beneficiaries, while minimum educational qualification of VIII Pass required for beneficiaries in respect of projects costing more than Rs.10.00 lacs in manufacturing sector and more than Rs. 5.00 lacs in business/service sector. The newly introduced Rajiv Ranghi Udyami Mitra Yojana of MoMSME can also be tapped for providing hand holding support to the beneficiaries under PMEGP.

Assistance available :
For business/Service Sector, the loan amount is restricted to Rs.10.00 lacs and for industries upto Rs.25.00 lacs Subsidy level range from 15% to 25% (of cost of project) for General Entrepreneurs, 25% to 35% for SC/ST/OBC/Minority/ Women, Ex-Servicemen & Physically handicapped, in Urban and Rural areas, respectively.

Special Component Plan (SCP)

Objective/features
Main objective is to provide a package of economic, social and educational benefits to SC/STs. Under the Scheme SC/ST persons are provided bank loan, margin money and subsidy for different schemes.

Social Welfare Deptt.

Assistance available :
Bank loan to the identified beneficiaries living below poverty line for various income generating schemes. Subsidy - 50% subject to a maximum of Rs. 10,000/- and margin money (25% of the total project cost) of unit cost @4% p.a.

Scheme for Liberation and Rehabilitation of Scavengers (SLRS)

Objective/features
The scheme aims at the social upliftment and rehabilitation of the poorest strate of the society by providing scavengers some alternative occupation with the help of bank loans and capital subsidy to liberate them from their existing hereditary and obnoxious occupation of manually removing night soil.

Assistance available :
Maximum project cost eligible under the scheme is Rs.50,000/- Capital subsidy upto a maximum of Rs. 10,000/- is provided. Margin money upto 15% of the project cost @4% interest p.a.

Swarozgar Credit Card

Objective/features
Scheme designed to provide hassle free loan to Rickshaw puller, Fishermen, petty Shopkeepers, small trader, Vegetable vendor or people engaged in small business and service activities Borrowers to provided with card-cum-passbook for which bank may charge maximum of Rs.50/- only. Card's validity of five years and will be renewed annually.

Assistance available :
Minimum loan of Rs. 25,000/- in the form of term loan/cash credit facility/combination of both. Banks are free to advance higher amount depending upon the merit of the case. In the case credit balance in the cash credit a/c, bank to give interest as per savings bank account. Margin, Security and interest as per RBI norms.
